kelly cole’s store
kelly and i go back. and i mean like, he was with me the day fated day in ny when i found my beloved shihtzu nearly 16 years ago, way back. and so i can say, without hesitation, that kelly has always had silly dope trendsetting taste.
his new retail store is a perfect reflection of his personal aesthetic: vintage (the real deal kind), masculine (in that perfect shaggy/musky/put together but not in a metro way) and authentic (my very favorite trait). the palette is very sexy, black and red. the space is small but every inch of it perfection. all the fixtures are custom made using mostly reclaimed materials. the racks are lined with the perfectly worn in everything. his background is in denim, so when he made his own line, it was with full knowledge of that very specific culture combined with his distinct voice. the vintage tee collection is bananas, only the best and in incredible condition. being a girly girl, my favs include minnie and mickey, horses, bunnies and of course the pink floyd prisms tees (i love anything with a rainbow). his book selection is also stellar and both make great gifts.
the location on an up and coming stretch of la brea is in no way random. since he’s popped up i would put money on this being the block to watch. they always follow kelly, because this man knows.
