An important and interesting fact: the unconscious does not know the difference between what is imaginary and what is real. They have an equally impactful effect on you. Anything you listen to, look at, or dream about, is nearly as real to your mind as the actual actions you’re taking in your real, waking life. This is where the new agers come in with their affirmations, their power of positive thinking, and among many other practices, their vision boards.
Like all creatures in the universe, we humans are made in God’s (the sum total of all that is) likeness, and are able, like God, to create anything we choose. Unfortunately, working with energy on the thought/word/action level is slower on this planet than we’d often like. But I’m starting to see that this slowed down gratification is for our benefit… It gives us time to reflect and make sure our choices are truly for our greatest good… and even then we still f* it up and choose the harder path. Having instantaneous creation powers would be like leaving a child in a candy store with no rules… S/he would rot from a sugar overdose. As too would we suffer from poor, uninformed decision making.
I am a particularly visual person. I find that I learn and access information most easily through images, and this is why vision boards are so powerful for me. Looking regularly at these collaged images of inspiration gives my brain the signal that this is real, this is mine. It’s a direct point of reference to guide your inner workings towards your goals and all you can dream up; so that when you’re inevitably led astray, your internal GPS guide will guide you back to your path.
